About this role

We are seeking an outstanding and enthusiastic Lead Practitioner of Science to join our school in Havering. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of high-quality teaching and learning practices in science across the school, and for supporting and mentoring colleagues to enhance their pedagogical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development and implementation of the science curriculum, ensuring that it is relevant, engaging, and challenging for all students Implement strategies to improve the quality of teaching and learning in science across the school, providing support and guidance to colleagues where necessary Work collaboratively with other members of the science department and senior leadership team to achieve departmental and whole-school targets Monitor and evaluate the impact of teaching and learning practices in science, using data to inform future development Provide high-quality professional development opportunities for colleagues, both within and outside the science department Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that values and celebrates diversity and promotes student well-being Lead and manage science-related projects and initiatives, as required

Qualifications and Experience:

A degree in Science or a related field Qualified teacher status (QTS) Extensive experience of teaching science at secondary level, ideally within the UK education system Proven track record of raising student achievement in science, both in terms of attainment and progress Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, students, and parents Experience of leading and managing teams, and of delivering high-quality professional development activities We offer a supportive and inclusive working environment, where staff are valued and their professional development is encouraged.
