We are seeking a highly experienced and professional Senior Science Technician to join our team in East London. The successful candidate will have a passion for science and a deep understanding of laboratory procedures and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Science Technician team, providing guidance and support to colleagues to ensure high standards of technical support are maintained and improved Provide technical support to the Science department, assisting with the preparation of equipment and materials for practical lessons, demonstrations, and experiments Manage and maintain science laboratory equipment and facilities, ensuring that they are clean, safe, and in good working order Work collaboratively with Science teachers to support the delivery of high-quality practical lessons, providing guidance and support to students as required Order and manage the stock of science laboratory equipment and materials, ensuring that they are stored safely and securely, and that there is sufficient stock available for practical lessons and experiments Participate in regular training and professional development opportunities to enhance your technical skills and subject knowledge, with ongoing support and guidance from senior colleagues Maintain accurate records of laboratory equipment and stock, and assist with the monitoring and control of health and safety risks associated with practical work Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement new laboratory procedures and resources, sharing best practice and improving laboratory standards across the school
Requirements:
A degree in a science-related field, or relevant technical qualifications and experience Proven experience of working in a science laboratory environment, with a deep understanding of laboratory equipment and procedures Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders Strong leadership and management skills, with a proven track record of leading and managing a team of technicians A commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety in the science laboratory A willingness to learn and develop as a technician and a commitment to ongoing professional development We offer a supportive and collaborative working environment, with comprehensive mentorship and support for all members of our team.
